Sicilian-born singer-songwriter Carmen Consoli makes her Florida debut concert at the Bandshell, a featured part of the Heineken TransAtlantic Festival.
She is the most successful female singer-songwriter in Italy, whose albums regularly sell in the millions across Europe.
Carmen is a rocker whose audiences fell in love not just with the quality of her songs or her interpretation, but rather the beautiful fusion of fragility and toughness embodied in her style.
Her innovative mix of indie-rock influences, bossa nova rhythms and jazz and blues-inspired riffs have engendered a sound unique on the Italian music scene.
A top-selling artist acros Europe since 1996, she is now making a limited US tour in support of her first US CD release, L'Eccezione (The Exception).
In February 2005 Carmen was chosen to represent Italy at the landmark Africa Unite concert in Ethiopia celebrating the 60th anniversary of Bob Marley's birth, joining artists like Gilberto Gil, Rita Marley, Lauren Hill, Shaggy and others.
She participated in Quincy Jones' We Are The Future project, a live concert in Rome in 2004 which was a fund-raiser to support children in war-torn cities.
The resulting benefit CD was sold in Starbucks in the US. Carmen has been honored with numerous awards including the MTV Italian Music Award for Best Video (Parole di burro) in 2001; Best Song at the Taormina Film Festival for the soundtrack of the international hit film L'Ultimo Bacio; and Best Female Artist at the Italian Music Awards in both 2002 and 2003.
She has been a popular favorite on the European festival circuit since her explosive debut in 1996.
One unforgettable highlight was the concert from the Greek Amphitheater in Taormina, Sicily in 2001 - one of the most beautiful settings in the world - as Carmen performed an acoustic set accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra.
This magical night truly unforgettable, and was recorded for a DVD.
Carmen made her first US appearances in 2004 at SXSW and in NYC's Joe's Pub.

Also on the bill is Agape, Miami's most popular electro-organic ensemble featuring the beautiful voice of Nadia Harris, the keyboard stylings of Erick Paredes and a host of musical guests. Plus Chakkawatti, a four-member percussion-based world music group.
